Brocade weaving, and Eri cocoons!

The brocade project I’m going to enter in the Dallas Handspinners and Handweavers Guild. It’ll be two mulberry bushes like this one (one on the other end, mirroring this) and a quote from Emily Dickinson, “A little madness ** in the Spring” with a silkworm, a moth, and a cocoon in the spot where the ** is.

This is a closeup of the mulberry bush. The color is working out great, but I’m not sure the mulberries are going to “read” right… we’ll see.

The Eri silkworms are starting to spin!! Two of them started making cocoons this afternoon.

Unfortunately, I can’t take them out to photo, so you have to see them at weird angles.

This one is further along. The cocoons will be ongoing for about 3 days, and then the worm will change to a pupa. We should have moths in 2 to 3 weeks.

Your hobbies and the crafts you do are simply amazing!
hee… thanks!
pardon me whilst I drool over your talent and patience!
this is wonderful!
yes, thanks again!
Such dedication and patience to add a small touch of beauty to the world. Thank you for sharing.
Can I join in the chorus of “You’re amazing!”? Again?
Amazing! And I can’t seem to finish a simple pair of socks lately.
So yeah – wow – and go cute little buggies (CLBs)…!
But the WIR asks, and I think it’s germane… “Oakenking must have the most amazingly patient partner… Is he into fiber arts too, or is Oakenking solo in this obsession?” I note that WIR is amazingly patient with my obsessions… 🙂
Chris is just patient with my obsessions. He takes an interest, but more in terms of “Isn’t that nice, dear!”
Of course, I provide the same kind of non-involved support for his reality shows and sweepstakes entries…
