Cocoons!
This is one of the full-size worms. They’ve gotten so huge!
These are the first two cocoons. Now, it’s about 2 to 3 weeks before we get moths.

wow
you making SILK?
cool stuff
Yup! If you track back in my journal, there are a bunch of recent entries about it… I’ve been reeling silk, making hankies, raising silkworms, weaving…
You’re babies are all growd up! *sniffle* It seems just like yesterday they were little silvery dots…
You must be a proud papa.
hee…
First read through, I thought you said “proud pupa.”
You need to get out more. You’ve been spending too much time in the worm hatchery – or whatever you call it.
I guess pupa would be appropriate though – in a strange twisted way.
Will I see you and this weekend? Either early saturday day (around noon/lunch) or sometime Sunday evening? Lemme know.
Sunday evening would be better… I work all day Saturday. Let me know what you’d like to do …
Just curious if the silk can be still used somehow after they emerged as moths.
Yes. Eri silk actually can’t be reeled at all, because they’re “lazy” spinners and don’t make a continuous thread.
But any cocoon can be degummed and spun. That’s what I’ve been using to make a lot of my silk hankies.
