Kego surprise!
Wow, that was fast!
I took the Bombyx mori eggs out of cold storage on the 17th. Their typical time to hatch is 10 to 14 days. Apparently, there were some who didn’t read the manual!
Here, you can see a single kego, and the empty egg shell he came out of. Notice that all the eggs have a blue-ish cast; this happens usually a couple of days before the hatching begins, and it is actually an effect of the worm inside turning darker.
A few of the kegos on a leaf. It is important that the tiny new-hatched ones get very tender leaves like this one; they should be crinkly and soft like baby endive.
The leaf and the kegos with a dime for scale.
the eggs look pretty cool
Yah; I love how you can see the worm curled inside them!
