my new reeling videos
I’m planning to put these up on the silk reeling page – the first video shows catching the strands from the cocoons, the second and third are two different views of adding cocoons to the reeling strand.

so awesome to watch you do that! I still have to bang together a reeler like the 4 armed one I saw in a video of yours… I do have a bag of cocoons waiting but this close to my girl being home I’m going to wait and do it with her! You make it look so graceful and effortless…
It’s surprisingly simple, once you know a few tricks. Everybody thinks it’s hard…. but I’m really cranking out a singles at 100,000 yards per pound as fast as I can crank that little handle.
It still needs some processing to be finished silk thread, but it’s SO much faster than spinning lace-weight.
The clock reel (the four-armed one) works OK… the main difficulty is that the cocoon-handling hand has to go back and forth like a traverse rod to keep the silk from piling up on itself, in between feeding the cocoons.
I really need to take that page down – a bunch of stuff points to it (links from other sites) and it’s certainly not the best way to go about things. I didn’t know about croissure then!
