Garage Sale

GARAGE SALE!

Chris and I are planning a garage sale this weekend, Saturday 9/1 only, 8 AM to 3 or 4 PM or until we got hot and tired and people stop coming by. NOTE: was previously scheduled both days, but now is Saturday ONLY.

Those of you in DFW – if you wanna drop by, please email me at oakenking (at) gmail.com and I’ll give you directions. We’re in Farmers Branch, near I-35 and Valwood. We’ll have signs up at Avenel Street and the corners of Bee and Albemarle, plus probably one on Josey, Valwood, etc.

ANYONE IN THE SCA, I’m planning on putting a bunch of fabric stuff, feast gear, etc., in the sale. We’ll see how deep I end up digging – there may even be stuff like art supplies or fabric paint.

Yaay indeed! I placed 2 more of them last night. Now, if I can just find a place for little Tiger, they’ll all be taken care of. And I can get Momma fixed before she kittens again!

Hee. I’d be more than happy to have you visit – but during Garage Sale Craziness is probably not the best! We could make soap and sniff my collection of odd oils and dig in the paint box(es).

Good luck with this! If it weren’t for our lack of funds and the distance, I’d stop by 😀 I did point this entry out to a friend of mine, not sure if she’ll make it but who knows. Sounds like you’ll have some great stuff! 🙂

Take care and have a great weekend!

One of the differences I’ve noticed between Houston and Dallas, is that down here, most garage sales are one day only, and usually from about 8 to about 12 or 2. That’s as long as it takes to get sold out.

Yeah – we’re debating whether I should change that to read only Saturday. There’s usually not nearly as much crowd on Sundays.

Ah, well. We just decided that two long days in ninety-degree plus heat was probably too much to try for.

We still need to just get together one of these days, and do something… y’all strike me as the kind of people I would enjoy hanging out with.

Are they selling reptiles, or just for looking at?

September 7 is my birthday – I’m trying to figure out what sounds like fun.

This is just “looking at”: it’s usually a collective of herp keepers from the Dallas and Waco Zoos, several reptile rescue groups, and interested reptile owners who get involved, and that’s most of the appeal. Now, if you were actually in the mood to buy, then there’s the Lone Star Reptile Expo on September 15 and 16. We’re probably going to be up to our eyeballs that weekend, but if you’re going to be out there as well, I’ll make the time.

I’m really not that much of a reptiles person. Now, if it was textiles-related, or arts and crafts, or insects or even plants… but although I’ve raised some box turtles (which have since been re-homed or released) I never got that much into them. I guess it’s mainly a matter of having to narrow my focus in order to be able to get deeply involved in something.

And, incidentally, that weekend is my partner Chris’s birthday. Which doesn’t mean that I can’t go do something else, but it will probably be mostly tied up with Chris-oriented activities, especially since his best girlfriend is flying in from Missouri.

We ought to hook up with DeAnne and catch a movie, or a play, or dinner, or dinner and a play… you like theater? Live music? I get pretty good access to tickets, with my job….

Hmm… well, not yet. I’m not going to put things like knitting needles or yarn out there, because I think they would not get as much $ at a garage sale as they’d be worth as gimmes to newbie knitters, etc.
