Moth to Cloth

Saturday, June 16th (TOMORROW!) I’m going to be working a demo at the Texas Discovery Gardens, called Moth to Cloth. I’m going to be there with all my silk-reeling stuff, and there will also be members of the Dallas Handweavers and Spinners Guild demonstrating spinning and weaving, and some of my friends from Fruits and Fibers (a gay knitting group) knitting. It’s 11 AM to 2 PM. There’s a link to a map and directions, here.

Hee – thanks! I made it up. We were trying to figure something to call the Yahoo group, and it just popped into my head.

You can come and hang out with us, if you like! We meet Monday evenings, second and fourth Monday of the month, at a gay bar called Pegasus Pub. A little more smokey than I’d like, but the folks are *really* friendly.

Not coming to class… I talked with Janet and Charles about this – I’m on a sort of Sabbat Sabbatical. I kept either failing to make my motivational roll, or just not being able to come for one reason or another, so I’m going to take a break for a while. Probably at least through the end of Summer, although it’s open-ended. I may end up at a circle or two, as the need arises, or might not – but I’m sort of faded away for a while.

Yup. I attended a couple of things with the Dallas Hand Knitters Guild… just didn’t fit in.

Our group is surprisingly alternative…. most of the boys have piercings and tattoos and fun/edgy hair – I was surprised at how wild we are on average. One of the guys wants to do knitted stuff with steel/cotton yarn, and set it on fire to burn the cotton out, as sculptural pieces.

ooo NOW I’m TOTALLY jealous! Ol white women are “charming” and all but alternative people here are… well not so much here as everywhere else on the planet apparently. THAT’s why I get so much done. No reason to leave the house. 😉

hee. I’ll try. He hasn’t brought any of this stuff in yet, it’s all still just in the ideas stage. But, he did tell us (although without illustration) that much of his fashion design portfolio had been singed-to-burned as part of its process… I think he’s got a little bit of a firebug.

    Sorry I missed it

I’m sorry I didn’t make it. Man promised that if I would move all of my soap racks and equipment out of the living room into the soap room (which was the library), that he would take me furniture shopping tomorrow to get rid of these giant overstuffed couches that I hate.

A girl can’t say no to a man willing to go furniture shopping, even if it does mean 14 hours of hard labor. 🙂

Hope all was brilliant and that everyone acknowledged you as the worm god you are. 😉

    Hugs!
