Sammons Center for the Arts – Sammons Jazz
A brief personal interlude – this is where I work!
It’s an arts center called The Sammons Center for the Arts; it’s in Dallas, on Oak Lawn at Harry Hines. It’s a renovated historic structure, and we provide office and rehearsal space for local performing arts groups.
We have a monthly jazz music series called Sammons Jazz.
i loved that building for years!
Neat. What is the interior of the building like?
There are a few interior shots on the website. It was particularly nicely renovated – they tried to stay with a semi-industrial look, while providing for office and rehearsal spaces. Lots of exposed ductwork and old wood. We have two rehearsal/performance halls (Meadows and Kurth) and other multi-use and meeting spaces, plus offices for a dozen organizations.
Ah. I found the pictures now. High ceiling and beautiful hardwood floor.
I used to love going to the Sammons years ago when I was in highschool. My private lesson teacher used to play there with his ensemble pretty often as did my jazz band director.
What a beautiful building!
what a LOVELY place to work! 🙂
