Thanks! I’ve been having a blast with them.

I’m looking forward to all the upcoming spinning-and-metamorphosis – I hope to have lots of fantastic new moths soon.

    i’m falling in buglove.

    Hee.

I get real involved in stuff like this, and I think, “Hmm… maybe I need to go back to school, and get a degree in Subject X…”

The problem is, my obsession never seems to last long enough to get through with it! I’ve got herbs, plants, dreamwork, textiles, drawing, now moths… I’m just a very intense amateur at all of them. But I figure that’s where it’s really at, for me… it’s the “amor” – the love – for all these fascinations that keeps me going!

And here I thought “She Eats Heads,” you’d be all excited. I was saving them for you. 😉

There are several people on insectnet.com who have polyphemus eggs – I should have them in about another month if all goes well, maybe sooner if I get a from-last-Fall cocoon hatch and it’s a girl… I should get LOTS of Samia ricini, too – so far, I have 33 healthy 3rd-instar cats, and they tend to inbreed easily.

but it is *good* to have vast and varied interests and good to have broad knowledge. i like this:

I’m finding all this stuff about silkworms fascinating. It’s one of those things I always intended to learn a bit about, but never got around to.

    Re: sorry…off-topic

I *heart* DPN’s. I realize they’re not for everyone, but I really enjoy them. I’ve worked with wooden ones, plastic ones, aluminum ones, and steel ones – they all have their various benefits, but I’d say that plastic or wood are easiest for a first try, because they’re not terribly pointy, and don’t want to slip out of the yarn (steel is bad for this, in small guages.)

My suggestion: do some regular knitting, just little squares, with 2 DPN’s, to get used to the way they feel in your hands, before knitting in the round. You can even combine flat knitting and round knitting in one project, like this one:

Hope that’s at least a little helpful… feel free to bug me with additional Q’s as they arise!

    i need a tutorial!
even looking that DPN’s in the store freaks me out. i bought circular needles for a buck at garage sale but they mock me. i tried them and they laughed at me.
    damn.
    i’ll try again.
and thank you. you’re a marvel.

hello — I saw you on my friends list — I saw the most awesome moth today on the wall of the apartments that I’m moving to… about 2 inches long and wide, silver and brown as I recall…I’ll try to snap a picture of it next time I see it. Also, I’m a big fan of hand made soaps, I’ve been getting them from Udder Delight in AZ and Red Dirt in OK, I’ll definitely check your’s out as soon as the dust settles from this move.

    Howdy!

I ran across your LJ on a friend’s friends page – like the look of your work, and thought I’d read along! Let me know about the soaps, and I look forward to seeing your moth!
